Parts of your home reflect different aspects of your life in Feng Shui. For example, your office and desk are linked to your profession. If you want to improve your work life, look at what’s going on in this area of your home and make some changes to make it more supportive of your goals.
Here are some Feng Shui recommendations for optimising your home office, whether you’re setting up a new workspace or looking to renovate an existing one.
ASCERTAIN THAT YOU HAVE A DESK

First and foremost, ensure that you have a dedicated workspace, which symbolises a stable career. It’s best if you can put your desk in a separate area that’s just used for work. This isn’t always doable, though. If you need a multifunctional area for your desk, choose a room other than your bedroom. When you’re trying to work, having your desk in your bedroom might be a distraction, and it can also make it difficult to wind down at night. If a workstation in the bedroom is your only option, try your best to partition the space with a room divider, bookcase, or curtain, and put away your work items at the end of each day.
SET UP YOUR WORKSPACE FOR SUCCESS

You should also check that your desk is in the command or commanding position. This means that while sitting at your desk, you can view the room’s door without being completely in line with it. Because you can see everything that might approach, you will feel more in control of your life and job. Even if you aren’t expecting visitors in your home office, the command posture works on a subconscious level.
If you can’t set up your desk in this manner, you can use a mirror to sit at your desk and stare at the reflection of the door. Moving your desk is preferable, so do it if you can!
ENSURE A SMOOTH FLOW

Pay attention to how your home office flows. Is there enough room around your workstation to move around? Are there any obstructions that make it difficult for you to get to your desk chair? This could signify roadblocks, or it could indicate that you’re making things too difficult for yourself. If you come across any actual stumbling blocks or obstructions, try to remove or reorganise them. You want to approach your desk and your profession with ease, with plenty of room to grow around you.
CHOOSE THE BEST DESK

For choosing a desk, it’s important to go with one that’s robust and sturdy, since this will help you achieve greater professional stability. Make sure it’s big enough for you to comfortably work on. You should avoid desks with a glass worktop as much as possible since ideas and projects can fall through the cracks and get lost.
BLOTTER FOR THE DESK

You can also wish to include a desk blotter to offer further earth element attributes like stability and groundedness. Choose a hue that appeals to you, or one that corresponds to the element you wish to bring in:
Black represents intuition, wisdom, and social relationships in the water element.
For development, new beginnings, and regeneration, use the green or blue wood element.
Yellow or brown earth element for food, limits, and support
White metal element for precision, organisation, and aesthetics
Red is the colour of inspiration, passion, and recognition.
SELECT A COMFORTABLE CHAIR

Look for a chair with a high back that can give you with greater support during work. Make sure it’s also something you can sit in comfortably! You can also use the five element colours as a guide to find a chair that represents an aspect you’d like to bring into your workspace.
ON YOUR DESK, USE THE BAGUA

You may be familiar with the feng shui bagua, which is an eight-area mandala with a central point. It’s commonly used to decorate homes and rooms, but it may also be used to decorate a desk. Placing the bagua on your desk can provide insight into what’s going on in several aspects of your profession. One thing to consider is where clutter tends to collect. Do objects frequently pile up in the upper left corner, for example, in the wealth and abundance area? This could indicate that your assets are tethered. Do you have clutter in the top right corner of your mind that is related to relationships? This could represent a stumbling block in one of your relationships or collaborations. Is it possible that the area in the far middle is the most cluttered? This is the domain of fame and recognition. This could indicate that you are not being seen or recognised for your efforts.
TURN ON THE WEALTH CORNER

The wealth and abundance corner, or Xun in Chinese, is one of the sections of the feng shui bagua. This is a very popular area, and activating it can help you attract more riches and prosperity. To find your office’s wealth corner, stand in the doorway facing in and look for the farthest left corner. You may also use the similar method to locate the wealth corner of your desk; this will be especially useful if your workspace is a desk in a common or multifunctional room. Place an amethyst or citrine crystal here with intention to activate the wealth corner.
BOOST THE AREA OF FAME

The field of fame and recognition, or Li in Chinese, is concerned with how you are perceived and acknowledged by others. Imagine a three-by-three grid overlay on your workspace or desktop to discover it. When looking inside your workplace or seated at your desk, the fame area is the middle region along the far side. This might be a useful area to activate if you feel like you are occasionally neglected at work and want to be recognised more for what you do, or if you are working on a business that could use more visibility and acknowledgment. This can be accomplished by placing a red object on this portion of your desk or office, or by putting a houseplant.
